My crazy friend went for a New Year’s Day polar dip.. I blissfully stayed on dry land, (and black ice) with gorgeous views of Forth Bridge, Edinburgh.

Moonlit Ghent

I broke a cardinal rule of mine and went out to dinner without bringing a camera. And was punished by the most gorgeous moonlit view of the city. Fortunately, a dash back to retrieve said valuable item was not a long detour.

Travel theme: Symbol

I am still marveling, more than a year later, my luck of actually already being in the UK when the Olympics happened!

I thought it would be a nicely timed one, in honor of Mandela, as the Olympics represented peaceful competition and respect, portrayed by each country’s athletes.

As someone on the shorter than average in the height spectrum, this is an annoyingly close to permanent angle of my head and neck.
